It’s almost Christmas and excited to meet ELIAS at the 48th National Rizal Youth Leadership Institute (NRYLI) conference. It was held at the Teacher’s Camp at Baguio City last December 16-19, 2010. It was graced with the presence of different student leaders and teachers from different parts of the country, chosen to take part in a once in a lifetime opportunity. Indeed, it had been a sort of pre-Christmas vacation and learning experience for the three of us – Danzelle, Mary Anne and me.
Relevant topics were discussed by notable people such as “ELIAS: Continuing Work of Rizal” by Sir Emmanuel Calairo, KCR, a Faculty Member of the DLSU-Dasmariňas; “Rizal, an Action Leader in Dapitan” by Sir Pablo S. Trillana, III, a Supreme Commander of the Order of the Knights Rizal; and “Rizal, The Systems Thinker” by Atty. Jose Midas P. Marquez, a Court Administrator of the Supreme Court of the Philippines.
The conference aims to inspire the youth delegates to be leaders of change through Rizal’s example in Dapitan – inculcate the Concept of Systems Thinking and Action Leadership and launch the ELIAS Philippines Fellows Program, a platform of communication, collaboration and innovation for high-potential youth leaders.
Still wandering who ELIAS is? Actually ELIAS is the new Rizal just like the rest of us that means Emerging Leaders Innovating Across Sectors (ELIAS). What an amazing experience to share with others. I look forward to attending more conferences like this for the years to come. Truly, 48th NRYLI rocks!
