The recent changes in Spotify rules of having a FREE 30 day trial for Premium account made my decision to give it a try again, now am using it for free but with the ads of course. One thing I like is the new design using the dark theme just like the UI of Adobe products like Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. I hope Spotify will also add a control to select how dark the UI will be just like in some of Adobe apps.
I’m still building my playlists with the big library of music I can still listen to the music of the 90’s and I’m very thankful to Spotify for giving us this free service.
To install Spotify on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS open a new terminal and enter the following commands.
The first adds the official Spotify repository to your software sources list:
sudo sh -c ‘echo “deb http://repository.spotify.com stable non-free” > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/spotify.list’
Add the secure key for the repository to prevent errors being thrown up:
sudo apt-key adv –keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com –recv-keys 94558F59
Finally, update and install the application:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install spotify-client-qt
Alright fire up the application and enjoy music along with the visual experience.
